Planny McPlanner and The Brainstorm Session
How often are you focused on tomorrow, instead of today? Or trying to do 4 things at once?
Do you spend your time thinking about what’s for dinner… before breakfast? While also making a grocery list, and tying little Anna’s shoes?
Planning is an important skill in our lives – especially today with Covid, work and back to school. Knowing what’s to come, and being able to make arrangements to handle those things is a great skill.
In a brainstorming setting, however, staying in the moment is the best skill to have. You can’t be thinking about next week, or what’s for dinner. You can’t Plan for what will happen during a brainstorm session, Planny McPlanner… You have to make space, and stay in the moment. This allows everyone to ‘catch’ the idea, and add pieces to it.
When a team has worked together enough to stay together in the moment, it’s a wonderfully beautiful moment to be a part of. Being able to stay with the team, bounce an idea around, build on it.
If you are a Planny McPlanner, brainstorming can be a dreaded task… there is sometimes chaos (of ideas), people are talking over each other, there is no ORDER!! We get that. For this time, you have to release yourself of your boundaries, and give yourself permission to act outside your normal comfort zone. To be ok with ideas that are totally not feasible. To be silly, or weird, or not make sense… but by staying with the team, in the end, you may come up with something unexpected and surprisingly workable.
How can you stay in the moment, and bring focus to your work?
